In Remembrance of
Staci Lee, Mandi McWhorter,
Lacey Osina and Whitney Welch
Greg Welch was a hard working, strong leader in the cutting horse community. He will be remembered as a great showman and a horseman who left this world with a powerful message. “It’s never too late to turn to the Lord.”
Greg was a man of very few words, but always connected with children. At the horseshows Greg might walk past four people and not say a word, but then stop to bend down and play with a baby in a stroller or tease a toddler. He always related to children.
Greg became a Christian as a young boy, but strayed away from the Lord for many years. When his daughter Whitney and three of her friends lost their lives in a tragic accident in 1998, Greg turned his focus back to God and rededicated the rest of his years to serving the Lord and reaching out to others, especially children.
Greg teamed with Horsemen for Christ Ministries and together with other horsemen, who shared this passion for the Lord, made a difference in many lives.
Greg lost his battle with cancer in 2004 and was rejoined with his Savior and Whitney in Heaven. Greg’s life and the lives of these four girls touched our community and left us a legacy to carry on so that their stories will not be forgotten. This legacy brings us to the “On Wings of Angels” campaign to build a Memorial Gym in Greg’s name and in remembrance of Staci, Mandi, Lacey, and Whitney.
Whitney was a beautiful and quiet young lady. She enjoyed track and cheerleading, and being with her friends. She was also an honor student. Whitney was a very strong devoted Christian with a spirit of a peacemaker.
Staci was a beautiful young lady inside and out. From the time she was born she had a smile on her face. She was very active in sports and a honor student. After moving to Brock in 1995 she joined the Brock Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized.
Mandi was very active in her church and in her school. She became a Christian in 1989 and from that time remained close to the Lord until death. Mandi played volleyball, basketball, tennis and was also a cheerleader. Mandi was always happy and friendly to everyone she met.
Lacey was a very talented young lady. She played basketball, volleyball, and was cheerleader. She was extremely intelligent and on the honor roll. Lacey’s strongest asset was her natural ability to care greatly for others. She was an organ and tissue donor. As life was taken from Lacey, she gave someone else the chance to continue living through her heart.
